It is almost Farmers Market Season here in the Finger Lakes!

Not only can you get the freshest produce around at your local farmers market, these markets make it easy to talk with and get to know the people who harvested, raised or baked our food. It’s a simple gesture to buy from these local vendors, but the impacts are great, from stimulating the local economy to fostering a deeper sense of community, there are countless reasons to support local farmers markets.

Open Now:

Brighton Farmers MarketAll-local, producer only farmers’ market offering fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy, flowers, plants, baked goods, pasta, honey, maple products, and more. Live music, activities for kids, community groups, special events. Sundays 1:00pm- 4:00pm. 220 Idlewood Road, 14618 Rochester, United States

Fairport Farmers Market: The Fairport Farmers’ Market features all locally grown or made products. It hosts an average of 60 vendors each week in the height of the season.  Saturdays, year-round,  7:00 am to Noon.  58 South Main St, Fairport, NY 14450

Rochester Public Market:  2010 winner of America’s Favorite Farmers Market. Local produce, meats and seafood, eggs and dairy products, ethnic delicacies, prepared foods, specialty items, general merchandise, and so much more.  Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturdays from 5:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. 280 North Union St. Rochester.

Opening in April:

The Windmill Farm & Craft Market:  With roughly 100 vendors, The Windmill serves as an outlet for local producers and craftsmen. Now in its 28th year, The Windmill plays host to nearly 200 shops, you’re sure to find something for everyone. Open every Saturday from the last Saturday in April until the second Saturday in December, 8:00 am. to 4:30 pm. 3900 NY-14A, Penn Yan, NY 14527

Ithaca Farmers Market: The Ithaca Farmers Market offers five weekly markets during the growing season. With three summer locations: the Steamboat Landing pavilion and two satellite markets at Dewitt Park and East Hill Plaza. See Website for specific location hours. STEAMBOAT LANDING LOCATION: 545 Third St.  Saturdays: 4/1–10/28, 9:00 to 3:00 11/4–12/16, 10:00 to 2:00 Sundays: 5/7–10/29, 10:00 to 3:00 11/5–11/26, 10:00 to 2:00 Thursdays: “Night Market” NEW! 7/6–9/28, 5:00 to 8:00 PM

 

Opening in May:

Branchport Farmers MarketThe Branchport Farmers Market offers a variety of local vendor produced items including seasonal produce, eggs, meats, preserves, pickles, baked goods, maple products, homemade soaps, local wine and much more. Many of the vendors use organic, natural or sustainable methods. The Summer market is located at the Branchport Fire Hall Pavilion at 3686 Rte 54A and is open weekly on Tuesdays from 4-6:30 pm, from Late May – Late October.

Trumansburg Farmers Market: A smaller market with live music, delicious food to eat at the market or to take home and prepare for yourself. Produce and local meat, cheese, and bread., along with very select crafts, scents and herbal products. Featuring local music and musicians each week Open on Wednesdays from May 10 to October 25, 2017 from 4-7pm

Watkins Glen Farmers Market : Outdoor farmers market. Fresh produce, meats, soaps and toiletry items and more. FMNP checks and New York EBT /SNAP Food Stamp Benefits accepted! Late May through October – Fridays, 3 PM – 7 PM

Opening in June:

Auburn Farmers Market:  Auburn Farmers Market is an open air market in downtown Auburn. There are 22 vendors with various local fruits, vegetables, herbs, perennials, flowers, Amish baked goods, organic produce, homemade pies, jams, garlic, cut flowers all season long, honey, maple syrup, cider, fresh eggs, crafts, silk flower arrangements, jewelry, painted glass, pottery and seasonal goods.The market will run Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday June 2nd thru October 31st. Daily hours are 7am -2pm.

Canandaigua Farmers Market: The Canandaigua Farmers Market is an association of farmers and small scale food processors consisting of approximately 30 vendors who live within a limited radius of Canandaigua, NY. It is Ontario County’s only farmer-run market. Saturdays, June through the last Saturday in October 8:30 AM – 12:30,

Corning Farmers Market Corning’s Farmer’s Market is located in Riverfront Centennial Park in Corning’s Gaffer District from 9am to 3pm. Every Thursday, June 8 through October 26.

Geneva Farmers Market: The City of Geneva’s seasonal outdoor farmers market, located downtown on Exchange St. For 2016 it will open on June 9th – October 20th!

Hammondsport Farmers Market: This outdoor market features farm fresh fruits and vegetables, homemade items, baked goods, flowers and plants and more. The market is held on Wednesday and Saturday beginning in mid-June through October 9:00 am-5:00pm, Liberty Park, Hammondsport, NY 14840.

Skaneateles Farmers Market: Offering vegetables, flowers, meats, dairy and bakery products, flowering plants, garlic, popcorn, cheese, wines, fruits and great social interaction. Friendly vendors with local products would love to meet you.  24 Jordan St Skaneateles, NY 13152 Thursdays, 3:30-6:30p


There are also several smaller scale farmers markets in many towns throughout Upstate New York that are worth supporting, visit local websites for more information on cities, counties, towns, and local communities that host farmers markets.
