Vacation in Branchport, NY

Sharing is caring!

I did it. We actually got away on a vacation this summer.

After all the calves have been born, and first cutting of hay was tucked away into the barns, but before corn picking and weekend farmers markets. We dug the boat out of a barn, packed an impossible amount of stuff and kids into my car and were lake bound.

Trying to avoid the hustle and bustle of touristy locations and popular theme parks and destinations, we made arrangements while snow was still on the ground for a cottage in Branchport.

For the most part it was glorious. We were on or in Keuka Lake most of the time. Fishing, swimming, boating, everyone had a good time for most of the week.

Unfortunately, our last night at the cottage my youngest had an accident with a citronella candle.  She was treated at the emergency room in Penn Yan, we followed up Monday morning with our pediatrician who referred us to Strong Memorial hospital. The past few days have not been  pleasant, but she is on the road to recovery, and everyday is a little better.

I have some pictures to share from the better days on the lake and the surrounding areas so I thought I would post a mini blog post this week.

I am hoping to get back on schedule next week 🙂

These guys were frequent visitors to the shoreline in front of our cottage. They were too cute and I really had to get a video of them waddling around for you.

  1. The state park IS beautiful. My childhood home was near the top entrance. I walked through there so many times!
