Homemade Rice Seasoning Mix (3 of 3)

It has been a while since I have shared a recipe for a homemade mix.  I really feel like it is time to get back into stocking my pantry with homemade mixes and seasonings, most of my mixes have been depleted and I have been mixing on the fly.

Rice can be kind of boring, Homemade Rice Seasoning Mix is a quick and easy way to add flavor.

Herbs and spices give plain rice loads of flavor, and the bouillon in the Homemade Rice Seasoning Mix add a flavor very similar to rice pilaf. Depending on what you are trying to avoid, or your reasons for making your own pantry mixes and skipping the boxed rice mixes you have a few options, as far as the bouillon goes.  If you are on a low sodium diet and are trying to limit your salt intake Herbox Granular Sodium Free Beef Bouillon, 3.3-Ounce (Pack of 6) is my favorite bouillon,  but it can be tricky to find in stores. I order both chicken and beef from Amazon, it comes in a 6 pack but I share them with my father. If you are trying to completely eliminate processed ingredients, skip the bouillon in the mix recipe, and prepare the rice with beef or chicken stock instead of water.

  1. I am trying to reduce our sodium so this recipe is great. Thanks for sharing! What are dried soup greens? Also would this work for brown rice as well?
